A read on price versus its previous behavior. It is built using statistical models and timeframes to indicate the evolution of price over time. It describes what an instrument's price has been doing. It does not include analyst opinion, earnings estimates, or news. It does not indicate what it will do next.

What do the five labels mean?

They show the way the price aligns with the statistical method used. When we combine the price with three different timeframes of moving averages, there is a lot we can learn, and that is the point of the five labels. The labels reflect the way the numbers align versus the past. In no case is this a forecast or an estimate.

Does "Strong Bullish" mean I should buy?

Accepted Answer

No. The tracker describes a current trend. It does not make buy or sell recommendations, and it is not financial advice. A trend that has run for weeks can reverse without warning, and past mood readings do not predict future prices.

Is this a lagging indicator?

Accepted Answer

Yes, by design. Moving averages summarize what price has already done, not what it will do next. A bullish reading confirms a trend has been present. It does not forecast that the trend will continue.

What is a Mood Change?

A Mood Change is when an instrument's mood shifts from one category to another, for example Neutral to Bullish. These transitions are shown because they can mark a trend strengthening or weakening. Treat a change as an invitation to look closer and deepen your research.

How often does the mood update?

Mood updates once a day, after the close of the trading day, using end-of-day prices.

Does it cover stocks, ETFs, and crypto the same way?

Yes, the tracker covers all three, and the same method applies to each. Crypto trades continuously, so its inputs reflect 24-hour activity rather than a standard session. The labels mean the same thing across every asset type.

What's the difference between an SMA and an EMA?

A simple moving average weights every day in its window equally. An exponential moving average weights recent days more, so it reacts faster. The tracker supports both, and you can switch between them on an instrument's detail page to see how each one reads the same price history.

Why is the mood Neutral for so many instruments?

Accepted Answer

Neutral reflects genuine ambiguity, where the data is not consistently aligned either way. It shows up often in sideways markets, and sideways periods are part of the nature of the markets. A lot of Neutral readings at once can itself be informative: it suggests price direction is unclear right now.
